KINDERGARTEN!!

Can you believe it!??!?! Already??! Balls.
He didnt want to wear the shirt I picked out....or let me fix his hair.

 He just wanted to go to school!!

 His teacher gave us 2 name tags...one for today and one for tomorrow

 And he wanted to ride the scooter :)

When I picked him up, he was disappointed I didn't bring the scooter...or drive. haha he was worn out and it was hot. I tried to get his day out of him...but all I got was "We sat on the carpet. And looked at the teacher." lol and the rest of the time??!! He's looking forward to tomorrow tho!

Today's the day...

I turn 30!!!! Woot Woot!!

 Dropped on the kids at school (sniff sniff tear), cleaned up the house a little, went thrift storing, had lunch with Jen, stopped by Wal-Mart, picked up the kids, and got ready for the party!

Angie and her girls came by and had some ice cream and played and helped me make poofs :)

I made chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream (soup for me!!!) and a couple bowls of toppings and

Yummy Cheesecake Cookie Cupcake things! lol

I strung up lights and tissue poofs and as the night when on backporch got better :)

Wicked awesome day :) The weather was perfect...no wind this evening.

 I didn't even notice that until jb mentioned it when we were cleaning up

I keep looking out the back door at the light this evening. Make me happy...
Kinda reminds me of the tree house ...when we'd string up the lights...

Feeling older...I think mostly because we have entered a new season on our lives where the kids are both in school...
30 and no kids at home during the day...

what will i do tomorrow on my last day of vacay with both kids gone from 9-3?? haha

"We need more tape!"

My project girl ran out of ideas yesterday as to what to craft. I suggested a paper house. "Like what momma? How big? And just use paper?" I shrugged my shoulders and smiled...and I saw the light bulb go off in her head :) she was busy for almost an hour figuring out how to construct a house and cutting up and taping cereal boxes. It turned out wicked cute and she cut out some faces I had drawn for the chore chart and taped them on the inside like photos hanging on the wall. Nice touch Sugar beat :)

Well it was HER project so she didn't let Dax help too much. So first thing when we got home from dropping her off at school this morning, Dax got right to work. I asked him about the pen behind his ear lol and where did he learn that?? "Oh yea know, build-a-bbbb...i mean builder bbbb..." and then tilted his head and kinda shook it with a little smile on his face... "You mean Bob the Builder?!" I ask. "YEA! Bob the Builder! He showed me this!" hahahaha too cute

So a half hour later and a little help from mom, Dax had his own "Gingerbread man Ginger cookie guy Ginger house place". quite the mouthful :) He couldn't wait to show Abb when she got home.

We went to the library (cus it is Tuesday) and then stopped and picked up Abb's school supplies.
 Went home and made dinner for them and then I went to a pre-birthday dinner with my girliefriends :)

We laughed and ate and laughed some more and ate way too much more.
[Angie got me the Hungergame series books and Audrey got me the 50 Shades of Grey series..woot woot! Got me some reading to do :)]

Got home and everyones in bed and asleep :) gonna put in a movie from the library...

i love being on vacation!! 

2nd Grade!!!!

My sugarbeat started 2nd grade today!! Holy balls. We picked out her outfit last night and planned how she wanted her hair :) growing up so fast! Her 1st grade teacher is team teaching 2nd grade and Abb and all her little girlie friends are in the class together :) Dax was bummed that he wasn't starting today as well haha. She had a great day and can't wait for tomorrow ;)

Downpour

It rained off and on today. We were walking to school and abb noted that it smelled like rain. About an hour later it was pouring! And the sun was shining :) I yelled to dax and we ran outside to dance and splash. A stream quickly started running down the gutter and he suggested we "sit and watch it momma!" Haha I love love love the rain

Abb starts on Monday and Dax the next Monday so we went to Target and got backpacks and lunchboxes. I was proud of Abb for NOT getting the Justin Bieber one she saw first but then swapped out when she saw this owl one. And Dax grabbed the Cars one, and also swapped when he saw the Angry Birds one. Kinda surprised me :)

Then I found these cute hooks and got wicked excited! Backpack placement has been an issue since Abb started preschool....so here's the solution! By the kitchen table where we do homework :) yay!! Love it!

The month of July in Reno is Artown. The whole month is full of events of the arts. Museums, performances, camps, ect. Monday nights are family festival nights at Wingfeild Park.

Didn't want humdrum lunch again and the kids have been in mom withdrawls since we got back from vacay and i went right back to work so since its my first day off I treated them to a menu today :)
I set the table with newsprint roll and cups of crayons and let them circle what they wanted, then served their drinks while I made lunch :)
we had a great time, they pretended they didnt know their way around and asked if we had a bathroom in this restaurant haha and when abb asksd how much the meal cost I replied 3 hugs and 6 kisses.
Best. Payment. Ever. ;)

Bubbles!!!

Abb made herself a bubble bath tonight and random facial hair was the theme :) She's been pretty protective of her hair lately...always wanting to do it herself haha so she got out of the bath and created "glasses" wth her hair :) that's my girl

Wordless Wednesday

The day we drove back...

Doesn't seem like it was this morning that we drove back from Idaho.... it has turned out to be

 such a loooooong day :) After having to turn around yesterday I set the alarm for 4am to check road conditions and get an early start on the day. Still closed. 5am...still closed. 6am....still closed. 7am...one lane open with a pilot car, expect 20min to 2 hour delays. Perfect. Loaded the kids in the car and got going. The turn off to Marsing hill had a large signs stating the delay. Wish it had been there yesterday ;) we made it thru Joardan Valley and thru Burns Junction. We could see smoke in the distance, but I never imagined it would have been as bad as it was.

We drove past this little blaze still going and then there it was.....miles and miles and black as far as you could see...right up to the road... power lines burnt down and some still smoking

At Basque Station (there isn't anything there other than one house and some equipment) we stopped. We were second only to this semi. So we waited. They told us about 30 mins. So the kids and I ventured off to some unburned sagebrush and went potty. By the time we were back and changed our clothes out of pajamas it was time for us to go!

We drove for 20 miles behind the pilot car....black and smoke all around. Betsy said that the highway closed again this afternoon...I'm not suprised with how many little fires we saw everywhere

The no a/c wasn't as completely awful as I had thought. It only got up to 97 before we were home...and the kids had fun "floating" things in the air.

We came home to a sidewalk welcome :) Abb thought it was pretty great. Jb had his first day of work today, so we had a couple hours to veg and shower before he got home :)

A trip to the library and to WinCo for groceries, and I knew we were back...

and back to it all we go again...
