A first, just now

how fast the days go... anyway- I came in the office to check my e-mail, and Ab calls to me. "Mom?" before I can answer, "Anna?" . A habit that is a few months in the making. [After any time spent with cousins, I'm Aunt Anna or just Anna for at least a few days. ] "Mommy's in the office." :) Here comes the first ... she calls back "Mommy Anna!" HA! As opposed to her other mommy?!?

Earlier today Ab was playing with the Elmo phone that Aunt Rusty gave to Dax for Christmas, and some how it smacked her in the head-right between the eyes on the bridge of her nose. I think she was laying down, and it dropped on her. So of course she needs a band aid. Kind of a hard place for a band aid, but it worked for her. I can see the mark a good half inch bellow the band aid, but oh well. It was only on for about 5 minutes before she painfully pulled it off with an "OUCH". Kinda glad I didn't have to get that one off.

A makes an aaa sound, wait - this is an A

I was just getting Ab laid down, and Dax was getting restless. She wanted me to read her another book, but I told her I really needed to get Dax laid down for nap too. Usually we can just give her another book that we didn't read, and she'll look through it until she falls asleep. So I hand her a book, and she starts crying and asking me something. "Mom, can you {not sure} me?" sounded like cheat, or beach, or shech???? And then it hit me. "Mom, can you TEACH me?" My dear sweet Abby. Wants me to teach her to read. Well, this is the beginning of a big project. I think she's still in there waiting for me to teach her... I don't think she'll get it before nap time. :)

Frosty

One of the days I was really sick a few weeks ago, the snow had just came down the night before and that morning. It was a Saturday, and Dax went down for nap so I did too. When we got up, JB and Ab were not in the house. It sounded like someone was coming up to the door, so I peaked out the office window. And here is what I found...

Jumba had given her a green plastic garden shovel to shovel the sidewalk because "I want to help Daddy!". And he helped Ab make her first snowman! And showed her how to make snow angels. She couldn't get enough of eating it though!! Bent over on all fours eating it straight from the ground! HA! The snow stuck around for quite a while, and with the snowdrifts it was pretty deep in some spots. We had to pull a few people out of the ones in the road. We only got the mail when we drove out to the mail box, because the snow had filled inbetween the plant burms so it was a couple feet deep. It was pretty fun. I was pretty jealous that Jb got to play in it, but I love hearing A talk about her snow day with daddy

bring on the dirt bike!!

This picture is from the other day when Jeramiah was waiting around to get picked up to go ride. He was working on one of his tires, and Dax was all over it! I was just watching, and JB asks why I'm not takeing any pictures?!? :) Alright
Then Ab asks me to take her picture. This is her "pose" :)

Jeramiah made himself some breakfast this morning while I gave the kids baths, and while I was rinsing off D he came into say goodbye. So I come out to the kitchen, and the eggs are still out, and the pan still on the stove... sigh. So I yell for him because maybe he's still here?? I ask Ab if Daddy's gone, and she says, "Yes. Daddy's gone. He went to work." with her little hands going out to the sides and a little head tilt. HA! I just love that little girl. :) It added my spoonful of sugar while I laughed putting the eggs away.

ROTFL

We were playing in Dax's room tonight, and discovered a small catapult made from the pop up toy with a block on top. It was about 20 minutes of fun. Abby would push the button, sending the block flying and I would make a WWOOOO! sound when I caught it. I haven't heard Dax belly laugh for that long in a long time! It was hilarious! So of course I keep doing it, and he falls over backwards from laughing! Totally would have won the grand prize on Americas funniest home videos. I start laughing at Dax on the floor, and Ab starts up too. We are making the silent laugh we are laughing so hard!! It was great :)

My boys

JB's been able to be at home a little more lately, and has been great at helping out with the kids. Tonight, both of them were dogpileing on top of him. If Dax has a choice, it's usually me- so it was great that he was wanting Daddy time. It's going to be a fun summer!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

We had a fun filled day! Ab cut up some scrapbook paper this morning making them into "Valentines Day". Not just valentines. :) I had a bread making cluster group this morning, and we went to Music and Movement for the first time in weeks!! Ab had a great time running around. She's never been that outgoing in class before. She played hard, and took a great nap. Right after I got her tucked in for nap, I came out and JB had texted "Tell Abby Happy v day for me". I thought that was so great of him to... to want his little girl to know he was thinking about her and loves her. It got a big smile out of her when a few minutes later she came out of her room for a potty trip.

Mr. D has been so much better about eating baby food. He prefers the veggies over fruit. Huh. We decided to get some solids in him before bed, maybe he'll sleep longer. His balance is getting so much better. The other night I was laying on the floor and he crawled over and just snuggled his head into my neck. I was talking to him and asking if he could say words, and he would just laugh. I'd say "Say mama!" and he'd laugh. Then "dada" and he'd laugh again. It was at least a couple of minutes of him just tucked up to me. Such a good feeling.

She's been a little Bev Tanner the last couple of days. "Helllooo!" this and "Heellloooo" that! "Mom, Heelllllloooooo! My ppaannnnnts!" Lots of laughs! That's one this I got from the parenting class this week. A sense of humor. If I can stay at level 0 and with a sense of humor, the days will be better. AND THEY ARE! It's not always easy, but at the same time- why wouldn't it be anything but fun. Ab borrowed Mary Poppins for the library and HEELLLLLOOO! Just a spoonful of SUGAR! Why am I freaking out about her putting her shoes on, or letting me fix her hair, or pouring cereal out all over the carpet, or painting on the floor instead of paper? "Find the element of fun, and SNAP! The job's a game". Yes my motherhood is my job, but crap Anna! I get to be a mother! I get to have these wonderful, independent, gorgeous, loving people BE my job. SNAP!

Are we feeling better today Mom?

The question came from A first thing every morning all last week. My sweet, sweet girl. YES!! Yes, we are better. She was getting cabin fever, so we all headed out today. We needed some things to finish the projects around the house, and I had a great time letting A chase me up to the checkouts. We picked out some movies and a couple of books from the library, got some lunch at Quiznos and ate it picnic style in the back of the car. Ab wanted to paint when we got home-mostly because we busted out the paint for the bathroom. She had a great time.

Later we were outside looking at the rocket stove Dad had made, and Ab stepped in some mud and started crying that her shoes were dirty. I got her to wash them off a little in the water going down the street gutter, but that wasn't enough :) "I need new shoes! These shoes are dirty!" Oh little Julie! Another testament to the "My mom is Julie" comment. Such a cutie.

Break through

The first tooth!!! It's the bottom left, and it's made it through!! It was the day before yesterday, what ever day that was :) He's bitten his finger a couple of times already. Hopefully tonight we'll be able to get some sleep. He didn't cough when I layed him down, so maybe now that the tooth is out and he's less congested he'll get some much needed rest. Maybe.
------------------------------------
Yesterday, I could not keep clothes on Ab if I glued them on! I don't know what it was about, but everytime I turned around there she was in all her nakedness. -- I've been running the shower in Abby's bathroom really hot and letting the room steam up, then taking the kids in there to help break up the coughs. Dax was in a fleece sleeper, so I decided to take it off of him while we were getting steamed up. Ab comes in and sees that brother is naked, and starts ripping at her clothes. I tell her that Dax's clothes were wet so I took them off. She musters up some spit in her mouth, and grabbing the collar of her shirt licks it with her wet wet tounge. "My shirt wet too mom" Roll on the ground laughing!!!!
